On The Road
2008-2014
After a joke remark by his Father-in-law suggesting he should take up car cleaning as a full time job, Jake did indeed begin the path to bring the business to where it is today.
Starting with 3 VW Caddy vans in white, silver and black, they all wore the original logo and moniker "First Choice Detailing".
The very first Caddy had window tints installed by Shane, who 8 years later, came to start PPF installs for First Choice.
Whilst working on the road he met Damian, who documented Jake's work whilst occasionally lending a hand. Shortly after this meeting, the business was re-branded to "FCD" and going down to one van.

Hunt Road
2014-2016
Looking to build with FCD it was clear a unit was needed. After many months of searching for it, a unique, 1 car unit was found in the heart of Poole.
This unit was intended as a stop gap which offered a dry, warm and secure place from which Jake could begin to grow FCD with Gtechniq's range of coatings.
Regrettably the site owner decided to sell to an interested party forcing FCD to look for a new premises.
Ashley Road
2016-2018
From Hunt Road, a larger premises became available. It was a superb location, also in the centre of Poole, and we transformed this into a bespoke detailing studio.
With a new secure location, XPEL Paint Protection Film was added to the list of our available services. In December 2015 Shane joined the team full time as our senior PPF installer.
In 2018, we were installing PPF to an extremely special Ferrari F12 TDF when Matthew came to visit our unit and after this and finishing school an A Levels, he became the first junior member of FCD.
Sharp Road
2018-2019
As the business was growing, Ashley Road became a bit small for all our needs and with the expansion of the business offering PPF we needed to find a large and more permanent studio for FCD.
Whilst hunting for the perfect unit, we managed to find a temporary facility with thanks to a long standing relationship with Emblem Sports Cars at Sharp Road.
From here we were able to grow FCD with a larger facility to work with and by the time we left in 2019 we had been fortunate enough to work on some of the most amazing cars.
Reid Street
2019- Present
From around 2015, we were trying to find the perfect unit to really advance the business and build a totally bespoke, state of the art facility for FCD to stay for the long term.
After many viewings, much time and energy, the perfect unit was finally located in Christchurch.
Our new purpose built facility is designed to provide the very best experience for detailing and paint protection film with state of the art lighting and climate control.
It took nearly a full year to get to this stage from a derelict 6,500 sq ft unit to what is now the near finished article.
