The Porsche 911 997 GT3 RS is a hardcore, track-focused version of the 997 GT3, designed for maximum performance and driver engagement. Powered by a naturally aspirated 3.6L flat-six engine producing 415 hp (later 3.8L with 450 hp in the 997.2), it revs to an exhilarating 8,400 rpm. A six-speed manual transmission, rear-wheel drive, and aggressive aerodynamics enhance its precision on the track. Lightweight materials, a roll cage, and a wider rear track improve handling and stability. With its raw, motorsport-inspired character, the 997 GT3 RS remains one of the most revered driver’s cars in Porsche history.
Purchased by a long-term client and passionate Porsche aficionado, Ben, this stunning 997 GT3 RS, painted in Pure Orange, visited our unit for some much-needed TLC. Under our lights, it was clear that this car hadn’t been maintained using the two-bucket method. Poor washing techniques had resulted in swirls, scratches, and a general flatness to the paint, reducing its lustre and clarity. After discussing the best course of action with Ben, we decided to preserve the paint on the front bumper, wings, bonnet, and headlights with PPF. While there were some marks in the paint, Ben wanted to keep it original, and Paint Protection Film allowed him to do so without causing further damage. For the sections not receiving PPF, we opted for an enhancement detail with Gtechniq’s Serum, topped off with Gtechniq’s Exo V5.
The rear bumper and wheels required more attention. Thanks to the large rear tyres, a noticeable stone chip path had developed under the bumper. We opted to have the bumper repainted along with the wheels. Removing the bumper in-house allowed us to continue working on other aspects of the car. While the 997 was on the ramp, we took the opportunity to send the wheels off for powder coating and clean out years of built-up tarmac and tyre debris from the arches.
After a combined workload of five days, this GT3 RS was ready to return to its owner. Now looking as good as new and fully protected, it no longer resembles a car from 2007!
