The 930 Turbo is part of the original lineage of the 911. Shortly after the 911 T/E/S came the impact bumper generation. In this generation you saw the likes of the 2.7, 3.0 / 3.2 Carrera, SC and the 930. The 930 Turbo was the first of Porsche's Turbo cars.
Funny enough, even though these cars generally feature Turbos, the "turbo" doesn't refers to it. How Carrera means sports, Turbo means power! As the generations moved on the Turbo cars featured a "punctured" rear quarter to allow of air flow over the inter cooler. On the 930 they did not feature this and instead used the tea tray spoiler which housed the massive inter cooler.
When boost kicked in the power developed in the rear-engined, rear wheel drive car was savage! By today's comparisons it wouldn't keep up with some of the 1.4L TSI engines. However, back in the 80s/90s the power from this was lethal and dubbed this car "the yuppie killer".
Compared to the original 911, the 930 was a massive interior upgrade. Featuring more technological advancements and creature comforts. If you were luck enough to have the 930 Turbo, you also gained an additional option... a boost gauge! Located central of the Rev counter.
When owner, Andy first bought his 930 Turbo to FCD we Gtechniq Crystal Serum and Exo detailed it. Since it hasn't been driven much , thus not needing to be cleaned, this is the first time in 3 years we have seen the car back. Besides the obvious deterioration to parts due to age and wear, the paint and interior is still looking as fresh as when we detailed it. With just a standard maintenance wash, the depth and shine came straight back to the paint.
